NSA Hampton Roads Portsmouth - Riverview Aquatics Center
The Men's Locker room, restrooms, and showers are currently closed due to repairs. The estimated date of completion is June 10. We do have changing booths on the deck with storage racks for bags/belongings. There are also porta-potty's located in the front of the building. The pool will continue to remain open during repairs.
The Riverview Aquatics center offers six-lane lap swimming daily and can accommodate Command training and PFA schedules by reservation. We also offer family/open swim on Mondays, Wednesday, and Fridays from 3 to 6 PM. We offer swim lessons for the children and adults to learn to swim by certified swim instructors. We are also equipped with men and women locker rooms and a sauna to enjoy after your swim.
Please note that the indoor pool will be closed for all Federal Holidays.

Facility and Command ReservationsSwim Lessons:
NSA HR – Portsmouth MWR Aquatics 2026 swim lessons are for all ages and skill levels. Lessons begin in May. The cost to participate is $40 per session for group lessons. Private lessons are $100 for one person or $150 for two people. Adult/teen and active duty swim test skills classes are free for active duty military. Classes will be Monday/Wednesday, Tuesday/Thursday, or Saturday morning.
Beginner swimmers are just starting out or have not passed the MWR Swim Test. Advanced swimmers have passed the MWR swim test and are improving their skills and techniques. If you are unsure of the level for your child, then one of our MWR Aquatics Staff at Riverview Aquatics Center would be happy to give a swim test during business hours.
Swim Sessions:
- May Sessions - May 1 through May 30
- June Sessions – June 6 through June 27
- July Sessions – July 6 through August 1
- August Sessions – August 3 through August 29
- September Sessions - September 5 through September 26
- October Sessions - October 3 through October 24
Type of Lessons:
- Group lessons include four or six classes per session and are either 30 or 45 minutes per session.
- Private lessons and active duty swim test skills include four or six classes per session (30 minutes each session).
Classes Offered:
- Preschool - Beginner (Ages 3 to 5)
- School Age - Beginner (Ages 6 to 12)
- School Age - Advanced (Ages 6 to 12)
- Adult / Teen (Ages 13 and older)
